The Key

Writer: Alex ArmstrongAlex Armstrong

Remember when I told you Her Last Promise was no longer my favorite book? No? Maybe you should go back and check out that post again!

Are you back? Okay, good.

The first book to usurp the throne—but not the last…spoiler alert!—was The Key.

This one is so fabulous in every single way. The heartache, the mystery, the terror of being locked up in an asylum—and yes, that's one of my greatest fears, and it would be one of yours too if people had been calling you crazy your whole life!—are all so terrifically done and captivating. I loved all three main characters in the book, Amy, Ellen, and Sarah, but Amy was my absolute favorite. I seriously wanted to jump into the book and hug her! Of course, it doesn't hurt that I've always been a sucker for historical fiction. Especially when it's done as well as this.

Parts of the story were hard to read, and I literally broke into tears more than once, but that kind of strong emotional attachment is what makes me love the book so much. I'm already looking forward to reading it again. Yes, I'm a re-reader. Aren't you?

As before, I'm including the Amazon description below. Take a look and grab a copy of the book for yourself. The more people who read it, the more I can talk about it!
