Man oh man did Kathryn Hughes knock it out of the park with this one!
After reading Her Last Promise and The Key, I had no doubt whatsoever that I was going to love The Memory Box, but I had no idea just how much I'd love it.
Did I already say I love it? I LOVE it!
As much as I wanted to savor the experience—how often do you get a new book by your all-time favorite author, right?—I couldn't make myself put this one down. I tried…seriously…but I couldn't get more than a few steps from my Kindle without rushing back for just one more chapter. And then one more…and one more…and…well, you get it.
Jenny and Candice are two of the most lifelike characters I've ever encountered. Even after finishing the book, I found myself thinking about them constantly throughout the day. In my mind, they're as real as anyone I've ever known in real life. Maybe more so. I'd give anything to zap myself into this book and experience the whole thrilling story with them.
But besides just the marvelous characters, the twists in this book are truly unexpected, and the writing is as perfect as ever. If you don't absolutely adore it, I don't know what to tell you. Except maybe that we can't be friends.
If you already love Kathryn Hughes, you don't want to miss The Memory Box, and if you've never tried her books, now's the perfect time to start. Join me in my obsession! lol
